Berry High is a completely natural combination of fruit and berry powders rich in antioxidant flavonoids such as ellagic acid, anthocyaniins and other polyphenols. Most of the berries in Berry High are freeze-dried to optimize their antioxidant activity.
Flavonoids and other polyphenols help protect against the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Anthocyanins, as found in blueberries, impart bright colors to fruits and berries and are biologically important substances known to protect vision, capillary strength and circulation. Red raspberries, strawberries, pomegranates, and cranberries contain ellagic acid in the form of ellagitannins, which are part of the family of phenolic antioxidant compounds that protect normal cell development. Ellagic acid is a water soluble antioxidant that promotes healthy cell development by shielding DNA from oxidative damage. The combination of these natural antioxidants accounts for the high ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) of Berry High. Each serving (6 g) of Berry High has an ORAC value of 2238.*
