Pectin is a form of soluble fiber. Pectin molecules, as other dietary fiber types, are too large to be absorbed from the intestinal tract, whereby they function as roughage. Pecta-Sol pectin has been modified into smaller, less complex molecules which are absorbed when taken orally.
Prostate cancer spreads when prostate cancer (PC) cells attach and penetrate normal tissues, starting a new colony. Research shows that PC cells have a receptor (location) on them called galectin-3, which readily binds with a type of sugar called galactose, found on the surface of all healthy cells. Pecta-Sol acts as a decoy because it contains galactose, which cancer cells readily bind to as they travel through the bloodstream. By binding to the galactose on the pectin molecules, instead of binding to galactose on healthy cells, the cancer cells are trapped and are eventually flushed out of the body.
